Wahi clan : ウィキペディア英語版
Wahi clan

Wahi, ''also spelled'' Wahie, is a Khatri clan that belongs to Punjab. The Wahi clan is a part of the Bara-Ghar (12 House) section of Khatris. Many Hindu and Sikh members of this clan settled in West Punjab which is now part of Pakistan, and had to move to India at the time of the 1947 partition. Originally, the Wahi clan originates from the Doaba region of Punjab.
Wahi are predominantly Hindu and Sikh.
==Origin==
The Wahis are ancient Khatri (Sanskrit: Kshatriya) clan originating from the Dhan-Puthowar region near Rawalpindi, West Punjab (Now in Pakistan). Ancient Indian texts refer to the region as "Vahika" and gets mention in Mahabharata. The natives of Vahika region were known as Wahis. The region is now known as Wah and borders Taxila and Rawalpindi. This region was ransacked by the marauding Pushtoon (Pashta-Huns) or the Western Huns and a vast majority of natives massacred. The surviving Wahis had to endure the misery of partition of India and migrated to East Punjab and the rest of India. Most Wahis are Sikhs or Hindus but some of them stayed back in Pakistan and are now Muslims.
